The general topics that will be covered
in Fourth Grade include the following:
Math: (taught by Ms. Cain) problem solving,
estimation, multiplication of 2 times 3 digit numbers, division with
and without remainders, geometry, measurement, money, fractions and
decimals. Workbook pages are skills practices, quizzes are given at
the end of each section, and chapter tests are given when the
chapter work is completed.

English/Language Arts: (taught by Ms. Cain)
speaking and presentation skills, listening skills, DOL (daily oral
language), the writing process, journaling, grammar, and spelling
Text: Houghton Mifflin English
Social Studies: (taught by Mr. Wachsler)
history, geography, government, and culture of the United States and
information on the Marshall Islands
Text: Scott Foresman Regions Social Studies
Science/Health: (taught by Mr. Wachsler)
Science will focus on physical and life sciences with an intro to
earth sciences. Health will focus on personal health, body systems,
safety, unhealthy behaviors, and feelings.

Reading: critical thinking skills, reading
strategies, comprehension, genres, fluency, and Reading Counts (both
comprehension as well as points)

Spelling: expanding vocabulary as well as the
cursive writing of vowels, consonants, and various spelling patterns
