Welcome to the George Seitz Elementary Library!

Our Library has over 12,000 books which include many of your favorite

tiles and authors. Our library features a Reading Counts program which

offers our children over 4,000 books to choose from ranging in reading

levels from Kindergarten thru 8th grade.  Once a child had read their

reading counts book then they can take a computerized test that tests their

reading comprehension level.  The children have been rewarded with great

success and prizes. This is our 2nd year offering this program to our students

and it has been well received by the community and our students.

At the library, our books are on a computerized card catalog system (OPAC)

that make for easy check out and allows the students the availability to look

up books independently and more easily.

Students in our library program learn the fundamentals of the library which

include: the basics of checking out a book, using library cards, Dewey Decimal

System, operating OPAC, Dictionary skills, relay races, and video editing to

challenge our 6th graders.

This year our students have enjoyed watching the library transform into aquatic

bliss. Each week more and more painting has been added to the mural.  We are

hoping to have it completed by March of 2007.

Over the next 3 years the High School and Elementary School will update their

library resources as well as fiction and non-fiction material.  This process totals

$33,000.  Please stop by anytime to see what new and improved changes are

taking place at George Seitz Elementary Library!
