Brief Course Description:
This advanced,
accelerated course emphasizes an analytical and abstract
approach to algebra. It extends concepts, skills, and
techniques mastered in Algebra I. Topics include, but are not
limited to, real and complex algebraic expressions, equations,
inequalities; functions including quadratic, exponential,
logarithmic, and natural logarithmic; and analytic geometry with
circles, parabolas, ellipses and hyperbolas. Time is spent on
trigonometric functions, triangle trigonometry, circular
functions, basic identities, and polar coordinates.
Applications of algebraic and trigonometric techniques in
solving real world situations is a constantly recurring theme.
When appropriate, technology is used to motivate concepts, gain
insights, and enhance student learning.
