with the prior approval of the instructor and school administration.

Brief Description of Class:
This semester course
is a general introduction to Sociology, the scientific study of human
society and behavior in social settings. The course will introduce
students to the disciplinary perspective that, in order to understand
the actions of individuals (and our own experiences), one has to
understand the social context in which they take place. Three main
theoretical perspectives (functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic
interactionism) will be investigated in order to better understand and
explain the interdependence between the individual and society.
