Brief Description of Class:
This semester course
is a general introduction to Psychology, the scientific study of
behavior and mental processes. The course will begin with tracing the
development of psychology as a science and then survey some of the major
principles, concepts, and theories that make up its core. Conducting
research, biology and behavior, sensation and perception, and human
development are but a few of the topics that will be covered. At
course’s end, students will have increased their knowledge regarding the
workings of the brain, mind and behavior, leading to a better
understanding of themselves, those around them, and the role of
psychology in promoting human welfare.
