Brief Description of Class:
Students will
explore the origins, development, and contributions of civilization in
Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Oceana. These topics will be
examined: Ancient China, Mesopotamia, and Egypt; Ancient Greece and
Rome; Medieval Europe; Pre-Columbian America; European Renaissance,
Reformation, and Age of Discovery. Several main themes will be
emphasized, including continuity and change, political and social
systems, religious and value systems, economics and technology,
diversity, impact of the individual, and global interaction.
