Brief Description of Class:
Students will better
understand how today’s complex world came to be; how events that took
place hundreds of years ago (and possibly thousands of miles away) can
have a powerful impact on our lives. Several main themes will be
emphasized, including continuity and change, political and social
systems, religious and value systems, economics and technology,
diversity, impact of the individual, and global interaction. The course
will cover material (information) from the Renaissance and Reformation
(1300-1600) through the end of the twentieth century (time permitting).
